Added that ear of corn on the lower left. No prelim drawing, just up and painted it in. Painting kernels reminds me of painting a string of pearls - one crescent of shadow and pop of highlight after the other. Fixed that one coin that was driving me crazy. Today starting on the right and working my way around the wheel. Spindle by spindle.

An Atlanta native, I lived in northern California in the sixties, worked in front of the camera in Europe in the seventies, and earned my living as a writer for twenty plus years. As a contemporary realist painter, I'm fascinated by the skin of the world, the bounce and skitter of light on textures, and the push and pull of shadows on form. See my finished work on my website, www.virginiaparker.net and follow my works in progress here. I currently live 1.4 miles from the house I grew up in.
